The question!

My memories up to the age of 10 or 11 are greater than the later years. Our family is a big one, with a total of 7 sisters and 4 brothers. We are spaced almost equally with a gap of two years. The four of us - the brothers, were in school. The two elder brothers, though having age difference, were in the same class ...I wonder how! I was 2 classes lower to my elder brother, and my younger brother was two classes lower to me.
At home, we used to have a lot of fun, playing, fighting ...and what not? On many occasions, we tested our knowledge by quizzing, asking mental maths etc.

On one occasion, my younger brother, who was 6 years old, came up with a question to my elder brothers. He was fresh with his maths class, where he was taught to find out the sum of 1 item, given the price of 4 items. He challenged my elder brother to solve a problem. He simply asked, 'What is the price of one mango?', without knowing that it was only a part of the sum. When my elder brother replied, 'How do I know?', my younger brother teased him by saying that he, being in an elder class, didn't know the simple sum which he knew. The elder one got wild, and slapped him on hid cheek. Poor chap ....he didn't know why he was beaten!

The assassination!

Assassination of Gandhiji affected me in a different manner. I was too young then. We were made members of the RSS (Rashtriya swayam seva sangam) movement in our school and volunteers from RSS regularly visited our school to give training in games, drill and other physical activities.

Since the assassin of Mahatma was said to be a member of RSS, the police wanted to round up all those connected with RSS. My parents were also talking about RSS people going. underground. As I was too young, I did not know what they meant by "Going under ground" and I was wondering how a person could live under ground. Police started questioning students too to know about the RSS leaders whereabouts.

That way, they came to our house also. As soon as I saw them, I ran to the inner most room in the house to hide myself and I refused to come out for a full day as I was so scared .When my parents forced open the room, I had almost fell unconscious ,as I was with out food for the whole day. Despite my elders explaining things to me, Still I was scared and fear bound for days.

This is still green in my memory ….and when ever I recollect this, I feel like laughing aloud.

Howazzat!!!!

Deep in my memory....

My father was in government service and his job was transferable. Hence, half way through my second grade, I landed up another school, in another city (Chengalpattu). I cannot forget my classmate who was a great artist a that age. He could draw and paint anything into a lively picture. In fact, in the absence of our drawing master, he would take over and teach us to draw. He was just six years old! His name is Hari Govind and he hailed from Kerala. Since I had to change the school next year, I lost touch with him. If he had taken up Art as career, he must have become a great artist somewhere in India or abroad. I long to see him even now. It's my hope and dream that one day or other, he would come across this blog , and get in touch with me. If that happens, I'll be the happiest man in the world!

A gripping experience!

No one would have had such an experience on the first day of school that too at age 5. I was already crying till I reached the classroom despite the fact that the class teacher cum headmaster of the school ( There were only 1st and 2nd standard in that school)was our neighbour. Exactly at 9:30Am there was a commotion in the next building which was a primary health centre. I also joined the teacher and the other students to peep through the window and to our surprise, we saw the doctor of the health centre beating up the nurse. The nurse was crying aloud and running here and there. Finally she landed up in our class room and the teacher immediately closed the door of the class room so that the doctor would not enter in.
An hour later the teacher went to the police station nearby along with the nurse and registered a complaint. That day, I didn't know that my teacher had given even my name as a witness for the scene of fight.
Two days later when I was taking my evening-tifin, suddenly, the police entered our house, and asked my mom abt. me. On hearing this I ran out of the house through the back door, and sat behind a tree. Since my mom couldn't find me, she asked the police to come later. My mom never told about this to me.
A week later the people from the court came and asked my father to take me to court to be a witness for the incident. I went up, and hid myself in the bedroom as I was scared to go out of the house. The whole of the next week, I didn't go to school. Now and then I was crying , since my elder brother scared me about the court room, and how witnesses are questioned. Only when I went back to school after ten days, our teacher said he had excluded all our names from the witness list as we were too young for the court.. Because of the incident, I was scared of the place where the school was located. This made my dad change the school. Thus my tenure in that school ended abruptly. It's an unforgettable incident.

Hello!

I'm entering the blog world since it's a media in which we can exchange our views, & bring out our innerself for rewiew by others which may ultimately prove beneficial to the self. I've chosen to recollect the past and record them here, so that I can reassure my memory level as well as giving them a reference status for future guidance. My earliest "memory" starts from my age five and hence it makes my first blog- "My memories".
